Well that’s it, the fun is over, holidays is done, and after an £80 taxi ride to the airport yesterday I am now back in Aberdeen and at work. Catching up on all the emails I have missed out on in the last 3 weeks.
Tonight, I will be busy with getting rid of all the Christmas decorations, food shopping, and clothes washing. And eating cake that is meant to be served to 12 people – because it’s my birthday and that is totally allowed when you turn 26 for the 7th time.
What a great way to spend my birthday right? Going back to work after 3 weeks, tidying the house, having no money left and being a bit fed up with sugary food after the holiday season. Well welcome to the reality of having a birthday in January! I don’t mind though, and it’s my boss’ birthday today too, so he is going fairly easy on me.
As you can see from the pictures above, birthdays were definitely more of an occasion in the 80’s and 90’s. Except I would totally still wear a crown today if I had one, who wouldn’t?
Great photos! My sister, dad and grandma all have January birthdays. My sisters is the 7th, so most years her birthday was the same day the schools went back.

You look so much like you! (That’s a stupid comment, I know, but I couldn’t think of how else to say it).
Happy Birthday to you!
12 servings from one cake?! Bullshit.

LOL thanks – you’re not the only one to think that – whenever we have had stupid fundraising games at work such as “guess the baby picture”, or “bring in your school photo and everyone can guess who is who” I was always the one that everyone figured out first.. I think it’s the glasses and the blonde hair. There is something odd when one of the senior managers comes up to you and just exclaims “aaaawww you were such a cutiepie totally adorbz look at you” and then continues “you havent changed a bit” and I’m like.. uum.. thanks I guess?
